A Note from Sarah:
Is it just me, or does this new year bring a particular kind of weight? The swing back into routines. The mental math of what stops, what starts, and what continues. The emotional and physical work of getting everyone in my family back to school, work, and on track, not to mention everything going on in the world outside.
I’ll be honest with you. This week, I'm feeling the weight of it all. And I know I'm not alone.
But you know me, so you know I have good news: AI can help both you and me carry some of the logistics, planning, and remembering. Personally, I’m using AI to delegate all the reminders I’m carrying in my brain to Alexa and to create a project plan for a volunteer event at my girls’ school with Claude.
Let's start the year by acknowledging the load we carry and finding ways to lighten it. I’m right there with you.

What’s On Her Mind? Understanding the Mental Load
Speaking of the mental load of motherhood, this week's podcast episode looks at how women become the default “family spokesperson” with Allison Daminger.
Allison and I talk about her book What's on Her Mind: The Mental Workload of Family Life.
Around the 20-minute mark, she shares one small shift that made a real difference for her own family. And at the end, she drops the most freeing insight of all: if you're struggling with a heavy mental load, it's not your fault… it's structural.

Big News: We’re Going Weekly!
Starting this month, I’m excited to bring the AI-Empowered Mom newsletter to you weekly! That means more support, more prompts, and more ways to lighten your mental load, from a mom who’s right there with you.
But here’s where you come in.
I want to make sure I'm giving you what you actually need.
So here's a quick question: What do you want more of in the newsletter? AI news, tools, prompts, podcast episodes and guests, notes from me, or something else?
Let's start the year by acknowledging the load we carry and finding ways to lighten it.
I’m right there with you.
