Hey there, {{first_name | friend}},
Spring Break is one of those weeks that can either be pure joy or pure chaos. I've had both.
😷 There was the year we arrived in Cinnamon Shore, Texas, only to discover we had brought COVID along with us.
😅 There was the year my family missed both our outgoing and return flights to Sea Island, Georgia. (Now, that takes some skill!)
😎 Then there was the year I let AI handle the itinerary and research, and we ended up with the most low-pressure, genuinely fun trip our family had taken in years.
The difference?
I stopped trying to plan for everything that might happen, and started treating AI like the always-available travel assistant, ready to respond to any curveball life threw us. This edition is all about how to do that, plus a few travel fails I'm still laughing about.
Now Streaming: Travel Fails and Fun on the AI-Empowered Mom Podcast
Caitlin Sutton joins the podcast to talk about AI fails and fun while traveling… and it gets personal. Caitlin is my sister, and we talk about our recent trip to Ireland, where AI was responsible for lots of help and a good deal of hilarity at the same time.

3 Prompts To Take The Stress Out Of Travel
Prompt 1: Plan My Trip (So I Don’t Lose My Mind)
Act as my AI family travel planner. I'm planning a spring break trip for a family of [number] with kids [ages]. Our budget is approximately [budget], and we can travel between [dates]. We prefer [beach / mountains / city / road trip / staycation]. Ask me a few questions to understand our family's energy level, nap or schedule needs, and what has worked or flopped on past trips. Then suggest 3 realistic itinerary options with a mix of adventure and downtime. Format each option as a simple day-by-day overview with a vibe description so I can quickly pick the one that fits us best.
Mom tip: I love Google Gemini for travel planning because of how it uses maps (and the free version is fine!)
Prompt 2: Build Our Spring Break Packing List
Act as a professional family travel packer. Help me build a complete packing list for a [number]-night trip to [destination type] with kids [ages]. Factor in the weather, likely activities, and any backup plans we might need. Organize the list by person and category. Flag items that are easy to forget, and suggest two or three things that have saved other parents on similar trips.
Mom tip: Snap a photo of everything before it goes into the suitcase so AI can look for anything that might be missing.
Prompt 3: Make The Most Of The Week We're Not Traveling
Act as a spring break activity planner for a family staying home during a school break. My kids are [ages] and we have [budget range] for the week. Find a mix of free and low-cost activities, at least one day trip option, and at least one activity that keeps them occupied while I [get something done]. Include ideas within [# of miles] of [location] and flag anything that requires advance booking. Format as a loose day-by-day plan with options so we can stay flexible.
Mom tip: This prompt works just as well mid-week when the original plan falls apart.
